Trigger Point Dry Needling (TDN)

Trigger Point Dry Needling (TDN) is a treatment technique that uses a thin needle (the same needles used for acupuncture) to deactivate trigger points, or knots, in muscles. TDN is a treatment for muscular tightness and spasm which commonly follows injuries and often accompanies the degenerative process. When trigger points are deactivated, there is a twitch response, which allows the muscle to relax, improving mobility and reducing pain. Trigger points contribute to muscle shortening, which can restrict joint motion and muscle function, leading to many dysfunctions such as tendinitis, arthritis, radiculopathy (pinched nerve), and overuse injuries. TDN is an effective treatment for acute and chronic conditions, and can be especially helpful in treating conditions that have not improved with other types of treatment.
